Michele Ferrin

Michele currently lives in Lancaster, MA and really enjoys the sense of community. Before this, she lived in Westford, MA for 30 years. Michele has two adult children, and one lives in her old home in Westford! She also has three grandchildren and another one on the way.

Michele might be new to us but she isn't new to insurance. She first became licensed in MA and NH in 1992. With all of that time and experience, Michele has learned that the most important part of her job as an insurance agent is "to employ effective listening skills. We need to not only listen to what the insured is saying, but also listen to what they are NOT saying." Listening to others, explaining insurance terms in layman's terms, and acting as an interpreter is how Michele earns the trust of her clients.

Michele is taking over all commercial lines, so if you're a business owner, you can expect to meet her soon! Right now, Michele is busy getting to know the basics of our office, how our agency works, and has jumped in feet first ready to learn. She's been reviewing all of the commercial clients and getting to know the companies we work with.

We knew Michele was perfect for our office because her favorite thing about working in the insurance industry is advising and counseling people. When asked what she loves most about her job, it's helping people understand their insurance; "A lot of people don't. They don't have the information they need to make a decision, so I enjoy that part."

With her years of experience, Michele has seen a lot of mistakes when it comes to insurance. She once asked a commercial client if they had an inlandQuote from Michele stating, "I enjoy advising and counseling, helping people understand their insurance." marine policy, to which the client replied they didn't own or transport any fish. Michele then kindly explained that an inland marine policy is for insuring any cargo transported by their company. (Ever wonder about an insurance term? See our glossary.) The most common mistake Michele sees is people not taking the time to review their policy and make sure they have appropriate coverages. Most people just throw their renewal in the cabinet without asking any questions, like what is business interruption insurance? Unfortunately it's all too common for Michele to have a client call her up with a claim and say, "Remember that insurance you mentioned? I should have had that."

When Michele's not working, she loves to spend time with her grandchildren. She's definitely the fun grandma, taking them to Davis Farm, the library, indoor playgrounds, and the Children's Museum!
